Through eight industry-specific divisions under one powerful organization, The K-Line Group provides complete, one-source solutions for the high voltage and smart grid industry. With utilities, industrial and commercial customers, The K-Line Group takes responsibility for every phase of a power project from consulting through to design and construction, as well as commissioning and ongoing maintenance.
The K-Line Group`s Overhead Line Division specializes in live line distribution construction and maintenance. As a result, K-Line has played an essential part in building the foundations for GridSmartCity. Burlington Hydro has trusted K-Line with installing the equipment required to form the “Self-Healing Grid.“ The installation of S&C Scada-Mate switches throughout the downtown core has enabled Burlington Hydro’s distribution grid to detect faults and restore power with minimal human intervention.
In addition to construction and installation services, K-Line’s sister company, K-Tek Electro Services offers a wide variety of engineering related services. K-Tek specializes in Distribution Design, Substation Engineering, Commissioning and Maintenance. These services are required to develop a smarter and more reliable infrastructure for hydro distribution.
Another aspect that is vital to the success of the GridSmartCity initiative is to understand the impact that renewable generation projects have when connected to the grid. The benefit of Connection Impact Assessments (CIAs) is the efficient connection of projects such as roof top solar arrays which are important components of GridSmartCity. K-Tek is currently assisting multiple local distribution companies on this front helping to drive green initiatives and provide clean energy for future generations to come.
Working collaboration, K-Line and K-Tek are able to offer complete turnkey design and construction services for distribution upgrades, substation retrofits, and even renewable energy projects. The EPC (Engineer, Procure, & Construct) approach has gained great interest in the industry and therefore has lead to K-Line becoming one of Canada’s leading energy service providers.
